As the third-largest school district in Texas and the largest employer in Northwest Harris County, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District impacts the lives of far more than the 115,000 students and thousands of teachers, employees and administrators across 88 elementary, middle and high school campuses and special program facilities that study and work within our walls. In fact, we’re proud that as a top-rated school district, the work we do within our school system extends beyond the schools and permeates within our neighborhoods and businesses, making the greater Cypress-Fairbanks community a better place to work, live, study and play. The Cypress-Fairbanks community excels because of our CFISD cheerleaders; the individuals and businesses that invest in and support our students and community at large.

Today, we highlight Tara Willis, the 2016-2017 Spotlight Teacher from Ault Elementary School who teaches in the same elementary campus where she once attended as a student!

I have lived in CFISD for 20 years and worked in CFISD for six years.

CFISD creates an amazing community and is well-known for being a leader in education throughout the state.

How has Cypress-Fairbanks ISD impacted you, your family or your business?

CFISD is where I received my education from elementary through high school. For the past six years, I have had the opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to me as a teacher.

What piece of advice would you like to give to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD students?

Give your best effort in all that you do and always believe in yourself. You are capable of great things!

What’s your favorite thing to do, see, eat or experience in our community?

I love running into other CFISD families as well as my students at community events. It is great that CFISD has helped our area establish a small-town feel within such a large suburban area.

How long have you lived/worked in Cypress-Fairbanks?

I have lived in the Cypress area since 1978, and have worked for CyFair since 1980.

Why are you so passionate about being a part of the Cypress-Fairbanks community?

My husband and I were looking for the best education for our two daughters. Cy-Fair offered everything we wanted for our girls.

How has Cypress-Fairbanks ISD impacted you, your family or your business?

My girls received a wonderful education from Cy-Fair High School, and both girls went on to Texas A&M and received their degrees. The oldest daughter went on to get her master’s. Both daughters are very successful and I attribute a lot of that to their education in Cy-Fair.

What piece of advice would you like to give to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD students?

Focus on your school work and you will reap your rewards.

What’s your favorite thing to do, see, eat or experience in our community?

I love all that this area has to offer. There are so many things to see and do and wonderful places to eat without having to go very far. I love the community atmosphere Cypress has. It’s just a great place to live and raise a family.

It’s such a great community with great schools, neighborhoods and so much to do. It’s just the best place in the USA to raise a family!

My wife, Alli, is a Cy Creek grad; my oldest daughter, Hannah, is a Cy Creek grad and current student at Lone Star; and in 2019 my youngest daughter will be the third Cy Creek alum in the family! After opening Raising Cane’s, the partnerships with the district were absolutely instrumental in building a brand-new business that no one had heard of before.
