As the third-largest school district in Texas and the largest employer in Northwest Harris County, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District impacts the lives of far more than the 115,000 students and thousands of teachers, employees and administrators across 88 elementary, middle and high school campuses and special program facilities that study and work within our walls. In fact, we’re proud that as a top-rated school district, the work we do within our school system extends beyond the schools and permeates within our neighborhoods and businesses, making the greater Cypress-Fairbanks community a better place to work, live, study and play. The Cypress-Fairbanks community excels because of our CFISD cheerleaders; the individuals and businesses that invest in and support our students and community at large.

Today, we highlight Butch Milks, sales professional for Balfour All-American and a long-time announcer at CFISD football games.

Why are you so passionate about being a part of the Cypress-Fairbanks community?

I feel that my passion for being a part of the Cypress-Fairbanks community is largely because of the people that I have had the opportunity to meet over the years. Living in other parts of the country for a few years has given me the perspective to see the differences in other areas. While there are nice people everywhere, I have never seen or interacted with so many genuine, nice, concerned, involved and talented individuals as I have right here in Cypress-Fairbanks.

How has Cypress-Fairbanks ISD impacted you, your family or your business?

Obviously, because of our business relationship with the school district, the impact because of the growth of the district has had enormous business consequences. But much more than that, having two children who attended CFISD K-12 and watching the teachers and administrators become our partners in helping to develop our children’s potential has been even more important.

What piece of advice would you like to give to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD students?

If there were any advice I could give to CFISD students it would be to take full advantage of the resources offered in CFISD. Working with other schools districts and knowing what a good job most of them do has given me a perspective about CFISD. There is not another school district anywhere that does more to give every student the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.

What’s your favorite thing to do, see, eat or experience in our community?

Announcing football games for close to 40 years in CFISD, there is nothing better to see than about 700 young people out on that football field each Friday or Saturday supporting their teams. This includes not just the football players but also the bands, the drill teams, the student trainers and the cheerleaders of each school.
