CFISD Community Cheerleader Spotlight: Jill Smith

As the third-largest school district in Texas and the largest employer in Northwest Harris County, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District impacts the lives of far more than the 115,000 students and thousands of teachers, employees and administrators across 88 elementary, middle and high school campuses and special program facilities that study and work within our walls. In fact, we’re proud that as a top-rated school district, the work we do within our school system extends beyond the schools and permeates within our neighborhoods and businesses, making the greater Cypress-Fairbanks community a better place to work, live, study and play. The Cypress-Fairbanks community excels because of our CFISD cheerleaders; the individuals and businesses that invest in and support our students and community at large.

Today, we highlight Jill Smith, team leader of The Jill Smith Team with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate – Gary Greene and a Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) trustee.

How long have you lived/worked in Cypress-Fairbanks?

Nine years

Why are you so passionate about being a part of the Cypress-Fairbanks community?

Cy-Fair ISD is an outstanding school district that offers so many opportunities for our students. I enjoy volunteering at the schools as well as being a trustee for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation.

How has Cypress-Fairbanks ISD impacted you, your family or your business?

I have two children who are currently attending or have attended Cy-Fair schools. My daughter just graduated from Langham Creek High School and will be attending college in the fall. Prior to moving to Cy-Fair, my daughter was very unhappy at the elementary she attended. We relocated to Cy-Fair when she was in the middle of third grade when she begin attending Birkes Elementary School. I was amazed at the transformation in her and how happy she was to go to school. The move was such a blessing for our family. A year after we moved to the district I began a career in real estate. The growth in our area is so tremendous that my business continues to thrive year after year.

What piece of advice would you like to give to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD students?

Follow your dreams. Do not let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve or do what you want. Take advantage of our district’s relationship with Lone Star College–CyFair so that you can get some college hours out of the way while you are in high school. Get involved in your school.

What’s your favorite thing to do, see, eat or experience in our community?

Our family really enjoys dining and spending time at the new Towne Lake Boardwalk. I have personally enjoyed my new role as a trustee for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. It is so rewarding to see the money we are able to provide to Cy-Fair ISD students to attend college that otherwise might not be able to attend because of financial constraints. I have also met many other business leaders and leaders within our district through my role as trustee that are so committed to helping these students.
